1st Egyptian-German Water Partnership-Day

5 February 2019. Cairo. 1st Egyptian-German Water Partnership-Day. Sustainable and Efficient Solutions for the Egyptian Water Sector.

German Water Partnership (GWP) in cooperation with the Egyptian Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) and the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) organized a high-ranking conference to promote bilateral cooperation in investments and trade between Egypt and Germany in the water sector and was held on the occasion of an incoming business delegation from Germany.

The delegation comprised fourteen companies and organizations from different fields of the water sector. The 1st Egyptian-GWP-Day introduced German solutions and technologies to the relevant Egyptian stakeholders. It was structured in three main panel sessions (see programme) on:
  1. Cost-effective and efficient water systems
  2. Waste water management
  3. Waste water reuse and desalination
The sessions illustrated the status quo and challenges of the Egyptian water sector and highlighted German technology solutions in the areas of waste water management, sewage treatment, energy efficiency for water systems, sludge to energy, advanced automation and filtration systems as well as renewable energies for desalination. The German water sector is one of the most powerful and internationally competitive industries. It bundles 150 years of experience in the fields of technology, application and management.

  • The Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) is a global centre of excellence that partners with water supply and wastewater utilities in the Arab Countries on building capacities within the utilities and on instituting best practices in order for the utilities to achieve their objectives.
  • Since its official launching in 2009 in Amman, ACWUA has expanded its membership network to reach to more than 100 water utility members from 18 Arab countries, in addition to private sector companies, NGO’s and academic institutions and individual members.
