7th OECD Forum on Green Finance and Investment

6-9 October 2020. 7th OECD Forum on Green Finance and Investment. This year’s Forum focused on mobilising finance to green the COVID-19 recovery and maintaining momentum for green, sustainable finance and investment.

More than 1800 participants from over 100 countries actively participated in the Forum. Over the course of four days, the Forum welcomed 121 high-level speakers and convened 17 sessions on a range of topics from biodiversity finance and sustainable ocean economy to sustainable finance taxonomies, green infrastructure, ESG investing and clean energy. Successive international reports have warned that the current high rates of biodiversity loss pose a major risk to our economies and our way of life, and that urgent action is needed, including the recent Global Assessment of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), and the World Economic Forum’s most recent Global Risks Report (World Economic Forum, 2020), which ranked biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse in the top five risks. For the first time, all the top five global risks, in terms of likelihood and severity of impact, were environmental.

Unlocking Financing for Biodiversity by Private Investors

This session discussed key priorities and opportunities to mobilise the financial sector in support of biodiversity action. It will explore outstanding issues with assessing and managing biodiversity impacts, dependencies and risks for the financial sector.


"The Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures demonstrates the increased awareness on the importance of biodiversity. (...) Financing Water-Related Investment 

This session focused on how investments in water security can promote sustainable growth and resilience and play an important role in contributing to a green and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 crisis. It also focused on how to strengthen resilience for water-related investments and the implications for financing.
