Food Systems Transformation and Voices from the Global South

17 September 2021. The Rome-based food and agriculture agencies, IFAD, FAO, and WFP held the UN Day for South-South Cooperation around the theme "agri-food systems transformation and voices from the global South".

The event built on the commitment and focus of the Rome-based agencies to agri-food systems transformation. It provided an opportunity to convene Government authorities of Member Nations of the three agencies, UN organisations and non-state actors to highlight a number of game-changing solutions that are particularly impactful for the Global South and to reflect on leveraging South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) across country-led food systems agendas.

The celebration featured experiences and perspectives from India, Kenya and Uganda, as well as from the Latin America and Caribbean region, represented by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Highlighting a number of game-changing solutions that are particularly impactful for the Global South, the event also gave space to build a joint-RBA South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) agenda on agrifood systems transformation.
