The Marine Stewardship Council invites
fisheries, scientists, NGOs and postgraduates to apply for grants from the
Ocean Stewardship Fund. The fund supports best practices in sustainable fishing
with the aim to increase the number of sustainable fisheries around the world.
Grants are also available to support small-scale fisheries and fisheries in the
developing world. Furthermore, the Student Research Grant awards funding to
support postgraduate students who are carrying out research with fisheries
engaged or working towards the MSC program. The two priorities in 2022 are
research proposals related to endangered, threatened and protected species, and
to habitat impacts. Awards of between £5 thousand to £50 thousand are available
across five different strands. The application deadline is 06 December 2021.
Milken
Institute and Motsepe Foundation

The Milken-Motsepe Prize in AgriTech is a
global competition for innovative solutions to increase economic value to
farmers, from seed to sale. Registration is free and open to anyone, with a
US$1 million grand prize available for the winning team, and US$1 million in
additional prizes. First, teams submit their design and business model. An
independent panel of expert judges will select up to 25 teams to receive US$10
thousand each. In the finalist round, teams develop their prototypes and
conduct field tests on small and medium-sized farms in Africa. To compete,
agritech solutions have to be registered by 08 December 2021.

The Milken-Motsepe Prize in AgriTech is a
global competition for innovative solutions that address problems faced by
farmers on small to medium-sized farms in Africa. to increase economic value to

The Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest
Research? supports advanced research and study by individuals. The fellowships
are generally awarded to individuals in mid-career from all around the world
who have established themselves in academia, public service, or in the private
sector. Research areas include, for example, forest ecology, tree physiology,
forest soils, forest resource management, conservation and biodiversity issues,
forest land planning, and the arts. The Bullard Fellowship is a residential
program and Fellows are expected to spend a substantial portion at either
Harvard Forest in Petersham (USA) or at Harvard University in Cambridge (USA).
The fellowships carry stipends up to US$60 thousand, depending on the duration
of each fellowship. International researchers receive additional support for
visa process and logistics. Applications have to be submitted by 15 December
2021.

UN Global Compact invites companies to
nominate young talent within their organizations to collaborate and accelerate
business innovation towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 10-month
accelerator program is intended for future business leaders and changemakers
with new technologies, initiatives, and business models that deliver on their
company’s sustainability objectives. (Note: Companies must be confirmed to
participate in the program before nominating young professionals.) The program
is available for companies located in the following countries: Brazil, China,
Kenya, Malaysia & Brunei, the United Kingdom and the United States. The

Commonwealth Scholarship Commission

With funding by the UK's Department for
International Development, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are available
to citizens of Commonwealth countries for masters studies at UK universities,
usually for one year. The participating academic programs include several in
subject areas such as environmental science and management, agroforestry, livestock
management, remote sensing, disaster management, wetlands science, etc. The CSC
lists the participating universities and their eligible courses. Potential
applicants must check with the relevant UK university regarding their admission

In its research program "Knowledge for
Tomorrow," the Volkswagen Foundation funds research projects of African
scientists in cooperation with partners in Germany. The program supports research
across all disciplines. To aid with project proposals and development, the

in Africa to help partners discuss and agree on research priorities and
approaches. Applications for workshops and summer schools have to be submitted

The Obama Foundation Scholars Program at Columbia
University (USA) is a one-year training program for leaders who have
demonstrated a commitment to finding solutions to challenges in their
communities or countries. Scholars attend courses and participate in leadership
development training. Participants receive a furnished studio apartment during
their stay, a monthly stipend to assist with living expenses, as well as travel
and tuition fees paid. The program is open to applicants from all around the
world. Applications for the 2022-2023 program have to be submitted until 22
December 2021.
UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth &
Development Office makes Commonwealth PhD Scholarships for full-time doctoral
studies to citizens from least developed countries and fragile states who could
not afford to study in the UK without this scholarship. Scholarships are
awarded annually across all subjects, with priority for applications that
demonstrate strong relevance to development. The program does not accept direct

Right Sharing of World Resources

Right Sharing of World Resources (RSWR)
makes seed grants to support income-generating projects led by women. RSWR's
current priorities are grassroots organizations selected states and districts
of India; Quaker groups in Kenya and Sierra Leone. Projects include many in the
production and sale of fruits and vegetables; meat and milk; grain crops; fish;
fuelwood; and other enterprises associated with small-scale agriculture and
rural livelihoods. Grants are usually up to a maximum US$5,500 per year (but
many are considerably smaller), for a maximum of five years. The next
application deadline is 30 December 2021. (However, RSWR recommends earlier
submissions of at least a month prior to the deadline to allow time for
revisions.)

The Master Degree Mediterranean Forestry
and Natural Resources Management (MEDfOR) is a two-year international program
in the field of Forestry and Sustainability. The MEDfOR Consortium includes
seven European universities with expertise in Mediterranean forestry. The
master course is open to EU and non-EU students. Scholarships to cover
participation costs, travel costs and a monthly subsistence allowance will be
offered by different funding agencies according to specific eligibility
requirements. The program is open to candidates from all over the world, who
have a bachelor degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental and Earth
Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The DAAD offers scholarships to qualified
individuals from eligible developing countries for post-graduate studies at
German universities in development-related subjects. The program (EPOS) is open
to individuals who completed their previous academic degrees no longer than six
years previously; who have at least two years of professional experience; and
who are nationals of countries receiving official development assistance (DAC
list of the OECD). The available courses range across water resources;
renewable energy; land management and tenure; agricultural sciences; forest
sciences; ecology; nature conservation; environmental governance; and many

UK National Research Foundation

The UK National Research Foundation (NRF)
makes research grants and scholarships to students worldwide (but mainly South
African citizens) to pursue studies in all areas of Science, Engineering,
Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities. The allocation of funds is
demand-driven. There is no maximum or minimum proposal request. The NRF makes
one call for proposals starting in February of each year. Please note that
institutions set their own much earlier internal closing dates for
applications, therefore, applicants must check the deadlines of each individual

The United People Global (UPG)
Sustainability Leadership training program offers young leaders from all over
the world the opportunity to participate in an immersive 1-week experience on
an island in the USA. UPG seeks young people (18-35 years) who want to take
positive action that helps the world tackle a sustainability challenge to
achieve any of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 500 young leaders
will be selected to participate in an online program and receive a
certification after successful completion of the online training. 60
participants will have the chance to attend the complimentary 1-week training
in the USA (all costs of the program will be covered). Applications close 31

The British Herpetological Society (BHS)
offers small grants to current students in support of herpetological fieldwork
and other research costs. Projects which benefit species of conservation
concern are likely to be favored. The scheme is open to students and research

Research Program in North America. Pre-proposals must relate to sustainable
solid waste management practices in the topic areas of waste conversion to
energy, biological conversion technologies, recycling, among others. Previously
awarded grants have ranged from $15 thousand to over $500 thousand with an
average grant size of about $160 thousand for 2 years. There are no
restrictions in regards to geographic location. EREF has two deadlines per year
with pre-proposals being accepted 15 days prior to the deadline date. The next

Afri-Plastics Challenge. The challenge supports the development of early-stage
products, technology and/or services that encourage the reduction or

validation of their solutions. Applicants can be formally constituted and
operating in Sub-Saharan Africa as either a registered business or NGO, but

The Turtle Conservation Fund (TCF) makes
grants to organizations and individuals worldwide for conservation and research
of endangered and critically endangered tortoises and freshwater turtles. TCF
lists priority species. Most regular grants are US$2 thousand to US$5 thousand
per project. The Fund also makes seed grants of US$1 thousand or less.

The Waterloo Foundation manages an
Environment Fund that supports projects to manage and conserve tropical
rainforests. Applications are invited from UK charities in partnerships with

The Cambridge Masters in Conservation
Leadership invites applications for entry in 2022. The full-time masters
program during one year is aimed at graduates of leadership potential with at

Japan Fund for Global Environment

The Japan Fund for Global Environment makes
grants to non-profit organizations in Japan and developing countries for field
projects in environmental conservation. Grants are for grass-roots projects and
range from 500 thousand to 3 million JPY. Each non-Japanese applicant needs to
have an agent in Japan to communicate and apply in Japanese language on behalf
of the applicant. The application deadline is 02 December 2021.
American Association of Zoo Veterinarians

The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for
SDG 15 seeks ideas and innovations aimed at restoring ecosystem services and
biodiversity by combating deforestation, countering desertification, and

innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project
startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from Credit Suisse. The application

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund

The CEPF aims to invest in biodiversity
conservation projects targeting Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and the
Seychelles. CEPF anticipates to support the development and oversight of a
portfolio of approximately 100 grants. CEPF seeks to partner with an
organization to serve as the Regional Implementation Team. Eligibility for
grants extends to NGOs and other civil society organizations with substantial
experience in climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation. The

The Logan Nonfiction Program invites
applications from writers, documentary filmmakers, photographers, and
multimedia producers from all around the world to participate in a 10-week
workshop at the Carey Institute for Global Good. The fellowship combines
virtual and in-person programming in two classes per year of 10-12 fellows per
class. Applications are accepted from professional journalists and filmmakers
working on topics representing socially relevant political, health,
environmental, human rights, and justice topics. The program provides fellows
with lodging, meals, and mentorship. Applications for 2022 fellowship classes

The Pulitzer Center accepts reporting
fellowship applications for its Rainforest Investigations Network (RIN). The
network seeks to create an ecosystem of collaboration among journalists to
follow the money and the many illegal practices and legal loopholes that enable

regions: Amazon, Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia. Experienced investigative
journalists with a proven track record are eligible to apply for fellowships.

launch of the first-ever Global Raptor Research & Conservation Grant. The
grant invests in projects led by citizens of developing countries with the aim
of increasing diversity and inclusivity in conservation while building local

financial resources to small non-profit organizations and individuals to carry

MeerWissen Initiative seeks to support
projects that contribute to strengthening marine biodiversity conservation in
sustainable blue economy approaches in Africa. MeerWissen supports partnerships
of at least one German and one African academic institution. It is, however,

ISF provides grant-based co-funding of up to €2.5 million, but requires

makes seed grants to support income-generating projects led by women. RSWR's
current priorities are grassroots organizations selected states and districts
