Why is financing food systems transformation the latest global challenge?

The Governing Council is IFAD’s main decision-making body. It consists of all of IFAD’s Member States and meets annually. It is attended by the official Member State representatives, i.e. Governors, Alternate Governors and any other designated advisers. Observers are also invited to attend sessions.

Food systems transformation is vital to achieve climate targets and Agenda 2030 goals, yet few people truly understand what it means. Following the United Nations Food Systems Summit in 2021, IFAD and the World Bank are co-leading the financing agenda for food systems transformation.

This event was a deep-dive into food systems transformation, what it is all about, the role of small-scale farmers in achieving it, and how it can be financed.
