The Arrell Food Institute invites nominations for the 2024 Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards. The Award recognizes global excellence in food innovation and community impact through research and food security. Individuals or teams of any country are eligible for nomination. Two winners will receive C$100 thousand each, plus up to C$25 thousand for travel and accommodation to participate in the Arrell Food Summit. Land Accelerator Africa

The Land Accelerator is a training and mentorship program targeted specifically toward businesses that restore degraded forests, farmland, and pasture. The GBEP Youth Award recognizes research conducted by students in the field of bioenergy. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to present their research and receive their award certificate during the GBEP Bioenergy Week at FAO headquarters in Italy (June 2024). Applicants should be within the age limit of 30 years old for bachelor and Master students, and 35 years old for Ph.D. students. Candidates must complete the application form before 31 March 2024.

International Foundation for the Law of the Sea

Training Program Law of the Sea

The Tribunal runs an annual capacity-building and training program on dispute settlement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The nine-month program is aimed at junior to mid-level government officials and researchers mainly from developing countries who are currently working on issues related to the law of the sea, maritime law, or dispute settlement. All participants' costs, including travel, accommodation, medical insurance, and a monthly allowance, are covered by the Nippon Foundation. The application deadline is 31 March 2024.

Rainforest Trust

Creating New Protected Areas

The Rainforest Trust partners with local conservation organizations to create new protected areas and expand existing ones for Critically Endangered and Endangered species. The Initiative invites applications for conservation partnerships from nonprofit entities and NGOs for projects in tropical Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Applying organizations may submit proposals for either a land purchase or a protected area designation. Applications to create new protected areas are reviewed three times per year. The application deadlines are 01 March, 01 June, and 01 November 2024. Applications for less than US$250 thousand may be submitted on a rolling basis throughout the year.

British Ecological Society

Small Research Grants 2024

The British Ecological Society (BES) makes small research grants in support of scientific ecological research where there are limited alternative sources of funding. Small projects can be awarded up to £5 thousand. Applicants must be members of BES. However, there are no restrictions on nationality or residence of applicants, or where they carry out their research. The program has two funding rounds annually, with deadlines on 08 March and 11 September.

German Government

International Climate Initiative Small Grants

Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI) supports projects on climate change mitigation and adaptation, and biodiversity projects that have climate relevance. The focus of the IKI Small Grants scheme is to provide support to the implementation of projects addressing the global loss of biodiversity in connection with climate change. IKI Small Grants selects project proposals and provides funding between €60 thousand and €200 thousand. Not-for-profit organizations and for-profit non-government organizations, if they pursue strictly non-profit objectives, are eligible to apply. The deadline for applications is 13 March 2024.

Grants for Research and Conservation of Wild Cats 2024

Panthera makes grants for research and conservation of the world's populations of wild cats. The Kaplan Graduate Awards Program (up to US$15 thousand) supports conservation efforts of young biology graduate students working on all wild felids in situ, with a particular focus on threatened species. The Sabin Snow Leopard Grants Program supports in situ conservation efforts on the snow leopard in Asia. The Small Cat Action Fund (up to US$15 thousand) supports in situ conservation and research on many of the world's 31 small cat species. The Winston Cobb Memorial Fellowship is made to an exceptional early-career conservationist to undertake a field-based internship for training and experience on a wild cat conservation project selected by Panthera. The Fellowship is for two years and provides up to US$50 thousand. The Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship accepts applications for an accelerator program focused on social enterprises looking to scale a proven impact model. The program is designed for established social entrepreneurs who directly serve people living in poverty who suffer disproportionately from climate change. Climate resilience falls into one of the following three categories: sustainable energy, availability of sustainable management of water and sanitation, and climate-smart agriculture. Cultural and Artistic responses to Environmental Change

The Prince Claus Fund supports artistic and cultural interventions tackling pressing environmental and climate issues around the world. The Fund invites applications to its mentorship program which will focus on addressing the environmental crisis. The program consists of two labs, a bi-monthly online masterclass, and peer-group sessions. Travel Grants for West African Nationals

The WARC Travel Grant supports African scholars and graduate students for research visits to other institutions on the continent. Travel grant funds may be used to attend and present papers at academic conferences relevant to the applicant’s field of research; visit libraries or archives in support of the applicant’s current academic work; engage in collaborative work with colleagues at another institution; and travel to a research site. Aga Khan Foundation

The Aga Khan Foundation supports programs in rural development, broadly defined, in several developing countries. It provides scholarships and loans for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from the developing world, with priority for master's studies. The Foundation also considers applications for PhD programs in certain circumstances. INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT SERVICES: Individual Consultant to provide technical support to develop extension materials and messages for the Capacity Development Interventions in selected countries in Western/Central Africa (Cameroon, CAR, DRC, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana).

The assignment is to engage a consultant to identify and map the target audience for each technology in Western/Central Africa (Cameroon, CAR, DRC, Guinea Bissau, Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana) to identify and map out dissemination channels to be used to ensure that the technology reaches the target audience; collaborate with TAAT Compacts and Country stakeholders to develop extension materials and messages based on need and preferences of target audiences; facilitate webinar sessions, validate contents and disseminate packages at relevant conferences.
