Professional Capacity Strengthening Programme -
Agricultural Research for Development and Rural Innovation
This programme will be run from 23 Jan to 27 April 2012, for a period of 14 weeks, in Wageningen, the Netherlands. The programme comprises a resedential phase in the Netherlands (23 Jan-9 March and 21-27 April 2012) and a 6-week professional experience in the South (10 March-20 April).
Target group: Professionals working in rural innovation
Objectives: The programme will enhance participants' teamwork and leadership skills to facilitate multi-stakeholder partnerships in knowledge-based rural innovation. Participants will also learn to assist their institutions to create an enabling environment for collective innovation.
Subjects: Stakeholder Processes in Rural Innovation; Working in Partnerships & Inter-institutional Teams; Participatory Approaches & Interactive Learning; Soft Systems Thinking; Analysing Complex Issues; Planning & Implementing Collective Innovation Strategies; Institutional Change; INRM; Value Chains; Livelihoods Systems; Facilitation of Experiential Learning.
Modes of instruction: Experiential learning through fieldwork in NL - 6 weeks of teamwork in the South - to initiate a rural innovation process engaging the collaboration of stakeholders. This is supported by interactive workshops based on self-guided reading, group work on case studies and exchange of experiences.
Educational requirements: Professional involvement and experience in rural innovation, analytical and problem-solving capabilities equivalent to MSc, PhD or MBA.
