Stakeholder engagement mechanism for the EU’s partnerships with Africa

The first Africa-Europe Week and the 6th EU-AU Summit have been concluded. Earlier, the partnership between the EU and the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) has also set a new framework for cooperation with the conclusion of the Post-Cotonou negotiations

As requested by many stakeholders, the European Commission now takes the opportunity to explore how to create a more permanent stakeholder engagement mechanism for the EU’s partnerships with Africa, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific. As a valuable participant of the Africa-Europe Week, we would highly appreciate your contribution by taking the survey.

The survey gathers opinions on how you would like to engage with the EU’s partnerships with Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific States in the long-term. The OECD has been asked to support this survey in the framework of a project aimed at developing a methodology for structured stakeholder engagement in the EU-OACPS Partnership. This comes at a timely moment as on April 15 2021, the EU and OACPS initiated the text for a new Partnership Agreement, which will succeed the Cotonou Agreement once both sides complete their internal procedures for signature and conclusion. This new Partnership Agreement sets the scene for more coordinated actions on the world stage to tackle global challenges. It also contains clear indication for a multi-stakeholder approach.

Taking part in this survey is voluntary and will help us follow up on the Africa-Europe Week, building a lasting stakeholder dialogue. Your responses will be anonymised before transmitting to the OECD for analysis.
