23/08 Launch of Africa Source Water Protection Partnership
During the 9th World Water Forum held in Dakar Senegal (March, 2022) key stakeholders in the water sector committed to increase investments into source water protection in Africa. An important element is to learn from some of the successful earlier initiatives implemented in the region like the Nairobi and Greater Cape Town Water Fund in order to accelerate the formation of new funds. Innovative approaches are needed for this, such as SIWI’s Source to Sea initiative that has supported development of modules on public-private partnerships for water management in Africa Continued learning and knowledge exchange is needed to address the underinvestment in source water protection in Africa as a adaptation measure to climate change and rapid urban water use increase.View the recording here
