  • Experts from the FAO Investment Centre will present the findings of their recent study on “ Investment opportunities in organic fertilizers”, conducted in Senegal, Tanzania and Kenya.
  • The presentation will focus on the following issues: agronomic rationale for using organic fertilizers, current and potential market size, main business models of producers and distributors, access to financing, quality and certification, as well as main obstacles and recommendations.
  • Moses Abukari, IFAD Regional Programme Manager, will provide an overview of EU-funded initiatives to promote increased access to and demand for fertilizers with progressive evolution towards organic inputs through the e-voucher mechanism in Kenya.

Reviving these forgotten foods can play a significant role in enhancing nutrition, conserving agrobiodiversity, and strengthening sustainable food systems.
  • The discussions will focus on community-led conservation efforts, seed systems, nutritional and ecological significance of traditional foods, value addition, market opportunities, and pathways for wider adoption and policy support.
