29 October 2014. Cotonou, Benin. Launch of the project“Amelioration des technologies de transformation du soja en lait et en “Afitin” au centre et au sud du Benin.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the food chain of soybean derived products, Milk and afitin for improved food security in the area of high food insecurity. The specific objective is that 1,500 small farmers, processors and their organizations take ownership of the technologies from research, use the recommended practices for the derived products on the rural and urban markets. The project is divided into two sub-projects:
- Sub-project Re-engineered Soybean “Afitin” processing technology: this sub-project is run by the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of Benin and the University of Wageningen (WU) of the Netherlands
- Sub-project Re-engineered Soybean Milk processing technology: this sub-project is run by the National Agricultural Research Institute of Benin (INRAB) and the Tropical Research Institute [INSTITUTO DE INVESTIGAÇÃO CIENTÍFICA TROPICAL] (IICT) of Portugal.
