The first VCB-N webinar was organized successfully on the 22nd of April 2020 with over 300 participants registering. It had speakers from Rome, Bangladesh, Vietnam and China. During the first webinar the crucial role of access to finance, thus the financial sector, in mitigating the impacts of the crises and in any economic restoration efforts was highlighted. Hence this is the core theme for the 2nd Webinar.
This 2nd webinar was hosted together with Helvetas and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and two corporate speakers. Speakers shared their personal and organisational perspectives the overall impact of the crisis on the performance and financial stability like the increase in defaults of outstanding loans or the lack of production capital for suffering SME’s or smallholder farmers. While speakers also offered insights into the responses of their respective institutions in terms of re-shaping their strategy and service packages and eventually financing conditions to address the challenges in the market.
Webinar attendance 225 people attended the webinar, while another 115 registered but did not attend the life session. Over the length of the webinar, the max number of attendees at the same time was 110. People attended from 45 different countries worldwide, with the largest number of attendees coming from Bangladesh (32), India (30), Myanmar (20) and Vietnam (14)
