This is a package of resources produced by the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London, and Results for Development (R4D), supported by an international Advisory Group of practitioners, consists of four briefs to answer this question.

  • They also include an evidence review (# 77 p.) which shows how policies can bring multiple benefits across the food system but also unintended consequences, showing the need to take a food systems approach to advance co-benefits and manage trade-offs. The review covers policies on cash and food transfers, food safety, road transport infrastructure, agricultural extension, and land tenure.

  • RUFORUM Network organised a half day dialogue /webinar to review and develop a roadmap towards actioning university and research institutions contribution towards strengthening Africa’s Food Systems.

3 - 7 October 2022. Livestock sector actions towards more sustainable food systems
  • The main objective of the 12th GASL MSP is for diverse and multiple stakeholders across the global livestock sector to display and commit to actions towards more sustainable, inclusive, resilient livestock systems as a part of global food system transformation.

YALTA (2022) Handbook on agroecology production #36 p
  • The YALTA initiatives ((YOUTH AND AGROECOLOGY BUSINESS AND LEARNING TRACK IN AFRICA) developed a handbook on agroecology to further support its implementation among the youths and other actors in agroecology.

30 August 2022Action Research Towards Agroecological Transitions - Set Off Webinar by CGIAR.

  • This webinar was an opportunity to present the Agroecology Initiative and discuss donor and partner perspectives on how contextually relevant agroecological principles can be applied by farmers and communities across a wide range of contexts and supported by other food system actors.
  • Target countries: Burkina Faso, India, Kenya, Lao PDR, Peru, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe.
  • The “set off” webinar brought together leaders, funders, partners and 218 participants from 48 countries.
  • Agricultural activity forms the basis of most livelihoods in African countries, but little research has been done on the impact of climate change and various adaptation strategies on the agriculture sector.

13 September 2022. First workshop of The Transformative Partnership Platform on Agroecology (Agroecology TPP) Community of Practice (CoP)
  • This workshop guided attendees through numerous functionalities of the GLFx platform on which the CoP is hosted
14 - 16 September 2022. Accra Ghana. Science and Partnerships for Agriculture Conference.
  • The session of the Biennial Africa Climate Smart Agriculture Stakeholders Conference discussed agroecological approaches and practices which contribute to climate resilience and concrete ways in which agroecology can support adaptation and mitigation strategies 

19 - 21 September 2022. AFSA’S CLIMATE CONVENING 2022 
  • theme: AFRICA’S ROADMAP TO ADAPTATION THROUGH AGROECOLOGY and DEFINING AFRICA’S POSITION FOR COP27.
  • FAO organized an e-discussion and webinar on Agroecology to share experiences and knowledge, document good practices, and initiate a global dialogue on EAS and agroecology.
