Commonwealth Scholarship Commission

With funding by the UK's Department for International
Development, the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are available to citizens of
Commonwealth countries for masters studies at UK universities, usually for one
year. The participating academic programs include several in subject areas such
as environmental science and management, agroforestry, livestock management,
remote sensing, disaster management, wetlands science, etc. The CSC lists the
participating universities and their eligible courses. Potential applicants
must check with the relevant UK university regarding their admission
requirements and guidelines for applying. The deadline for scholarship
applications is 09 April 2021.

The Halcyon Incubator program equips early-stage social
entrepreneurs from all around the world with support to transform their ideas
into scalable and sustainable ventures. Ventures may be for-profit, hybrid, or
undecided, as long as the core mission is to create measurable social change.
(Note: This may include business ideas in agriculture, sustainable energy, or
sustainable development.) Ventures structured as ‘non-profit’ will only be
considered if they have a product or service they are selling. Partnerships
(ventures co-founded and led by two individuals) are eligible. Selected entrepreneurs
will receive a $10 thousand stipend per venture for food and living expenses
during the residency phase, mentorship, one-on-one coaching, and 5 months of
free workspace at Halcyon House. Applications are accepted until 09 April 2021.

The Swedish Research Council invites research project
proposals within natural and engineering sciences. The purpose of the grant is
to give researchers the freedom to formulate by themselves the research
concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task.
Applicants must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or a corresponding foreign
degree. Individual researchers can request grants between SEK400 thousand and
SEK1.5 million per year for a maximum of 4 years. The call deadline is 13 April

The Swedish Research Council funds research projects
relevant to the fight against poverty and for sustainable development in low
income countries. The applicant for a research project grant must be an
individual researcher. A research cooperation between scientists in Sweden and
scientists in selected low and middle-income countries is encouraged. The
maximum amount is SEK 1.5 million per year for a period of four years. The

The Swedish Research Links Program funds research
cooperation between scientists in Sweden and scientists in selected low and
middle-income countries. Past grants have funded research to address water
pollution; control of agricultural diseases and post-harvest losses; livestock

to agriculture and natural resources. The maximum amount is SEK 400 thousand
per year for up to two years. The closing date for applications is 13 April

The WE Empower UN SDG Challenge is a global competition for
women social entrepreneurs who are advancing the UN Sustainable Development
Goals. The challenge honors innovative women entrepreneurs, invests in the most
inspiring and transformational ideas and ignites awareness. Awardees will
participate in a dynamic pitch competition to present their business for the
opportunity to receive a US$20 thousand grant. The competition is open to
female entrepreneurs and business leaders from all around the world. The

Boston University: West African Research Association

The WARC Travel Grant supports African scholars and graduate
students for research visits to other institutions on the continent. Travel
grant funds may be used to attend and present papers at academic conferences
relevant to the applicant’s field of research; visit libraries or archives in
support of the applicant’s current academic work; engage in collaborative work
with colleagues at another institution; and travel to a research site. The
grant provides travel costs up to US$1,500 and a stipend of US$1,500. The
program is open to West African nationals, with preference given to those
affiliated with West African colleges, universities, and research institutions.

The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) provides financial and
technical instruments to support projects proposed by enterprises, cooperatives
and institutions. Funding is targeted mainly to for-profit organizations and
social enterprises for production, value chains, and marketing across a wide
group of commodities (agricultural crops, fisheries, tree crops, timber, bamboo
and rattan, minerals, and others). Projects need to focus on economic, social
and environmental sustainability. Innovative solutions for new agritech
applications, access to renewable energy, or expanding environmental services

The European Commission (EC) seeks to promote the
socio-economic development of Chad through a reduction in malnutrition. The
call aims to increase access to irrigated land and the sustainable optimization
of the use of water resources, and promotes the diversification of food systems
and agricultural production to support rural producers and families. Funding of
up to €3 million is available, depending on target region and focus area.
Projects need to have a duration of between 46 and 48 months. Eligibility
extends to non-profit organizations. The deadline for submitting applications
is 15 April 2021.
Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in
Agriculture

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in
Agriculture (RUFORUM) sponsors a competition for young African entrepreneurs
(< 35 years) to showcase their business innovations in agribusiness.
Although the focus of the competition is agribusiness, business innovations in
other themes (e.g., natural resources, meteorology, urbanization, green
economy, etc.) will also be considered. Competition will provide seed funding
to young entrepreneurs with creative and innovative business ideas. The
competition is open to all African countries. Submissions are invited in
English or French before 15 April 2021.

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) invites women
scientists in the field of agriculture (and other sciences) from science and
technology lagging countries to apply for the OWSD PhD Training Fellowships.
Each fellow will receive a monthly allowance to cover basic living expenses, a
special allowance to attend international conferences, travel expenses, medical
insurance, and the opportunity to attend regional science communications
workshops for up to four years. Applications will be accepted until 15 April

The Coimbra Group is an association of long-established

to promote internationalization. Towards this end, the Coimbra Group offers

The European Union intends to boost innovation in
agriculture and food systems transformation of partner countries with a view to
be more resilient to the effects of climate change. The European Commission
calls for applied research projects to address climate change adaptation and
resilience of family farming in Angola. The priority of this call is to find
options for the improvement of family farming, test them, and assess their
contribution to resilience. Grant funding ranges from €800 thousand to €1
million. Eligibility extends to universities, agriculture research
institutions, and international organizations. Applicants must have proven
experience in conducting operational research projects in developing countries
in the following areas: agriculture, livestock, climate change/environment,
community development, agroforestry and food security. The application deadline

Athens Photo World seeks applications from professional
photojournalists for the Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award.
Athens Photo World will award €15 thousand to a completed project of reportage
or documentary photography, created within the last 3 years. Photographers can
submit a portfolio of up to twenty-four (24) photographs. Submissions have to
be received by 18 April 2021.

Echoing Green helps emerging social entrepreneurs around the
world with grants of seed capital and technical assistance to support their
start-up organizations. Seed funding of up to US$80 thousand over 18 months is
offered to for-profit organizations in the form of recoverable grants. Past
fellowships include examples in renewable energy, waste management, smallholder
farming, climate change, and other societal challenges in developing countries.

The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to
experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support
projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of
any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of
research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a
public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States
or Associated Countries. An average of €2 million is provided for up to five
years. The deadline for applications is 20 April 2021.

The Persephone Miel Fellowship is designed to help
journalists from the developing world with limited access to other fellowships
and those whose work is not routinely disseminated internationally. The
Pulitzer Center will provide a travel grant of US$5 thousand for a reporting
project on topics of global importance. The Persephone Miel Fellowship is open
to all journalists, writers, photographers, radio producers, filmmakers, staff
journalists as well as freelancers and media professionals from any developing
country. The deadline is 23 April 2021.

The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships support
distance learning Master’s degree courses offered in partnership with local
providers in developing countries, as well as courses delivered directly by UK
universities. The available offerings include agriculture; tropical forestry;
veterinary medicine; environmental management; conservation and wildlife
management; risk and disaster management; and others. Eligibility for support
extends to Commonwealth citizens of developing Commonwealth countries,
refugees, and British protected persons. Applicants must be permanently
resident in a developing Commonwealth country and meet the entry educational
requirements. The application deadline is 26 April 2021.

The Australian government contributes to the education of
talented individuals in the developing countries through its scholarship
programs. Subject areas for study correspond to priorities of Australia's aid
programs by regions and countries -- and include agriculture, energy, natural
resources, and environment. The call lists countries that are eligible for
Australia Awards Scholarships, and country-specific eligibility criteria. The
application period for the 2021-2022 scholarships is 01 February 2021 through
30 April 2021.

Celebrate Islands invites video submissions for a contest
“My project in 120 seconds” giving winners the opportunity to implement a small
project on their island. Projects need to be achievable within one month and
may focus on biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, waste and
plastic, sustainable economic activities (such as fisheries, agriculture,
etc.), water efficiency or energy supply. Celebrate Islands intends to award 3
projects with €3 thousand each. Island projects can be submitted from all
around the world but need to focus on an island of less than 150km2. Video
applications have to be submitted by 30 April 2021.

Engineering for Development (E4D) awards two doctoral
scholarships per year and promotes projects that are directly relevant for
improving the livelihoods of underprivileged people in low-income countries.
Funding of CHF175 thousand is available to cover salary costs of selected
doctoral students for three years. Interested candidates have to find an ETH
professor who supports their application. The deadline for submissions of
concept notes is 30 April 2021.

Foundation Fiat Panis calls for nominations for the Justus
von Liebig-Award for World Nutrition for outstanding achievements in the fight
against hunger and poverty. Contributions can be scientific contributions to
research and teaching in the field of agricultural sciences, entrepreneurial
and organizational services, achievements of a humanitarian nature, or
contributions to the communication of world food problems and possible
solutions. The prize may be awarded an individual or institution. The winner
receives €25 thousand. The deadline for submission of nominations is 30 April

The Fiat Panis Foundation makes awards for university thesis
and dissertation research in themes of agriculture, ecology and natural
resources, with a focus on food security in developing countries. The Hans
Hartwig Ruthenberg Graduate Award is €7.5 thousand in support of qualified
young scientists by honoring their excellent master thesis in the field of food

French Ministry of Research and Education

LabexMER is a program of France's Ministry of Research and
Education to address key questions about the global ocean, the deep ocean, and
the coastal ocean. LabexMER offers four two-year postdoctoral fellowships for
international young scientists to propose research projects in marine sciences
to be carried out in one or several LabexMER laboratories in western France.
Fellows will receive an annual salary of €37 thousand and support to cover travel
expenses, equipment and supplies (€5 thousand per year). The deadline for
applications is 30 April 2021.
Indian National Academy of Sciences

India's National Science Academy administers the JRD-Tata
Fellowships to support visiting scientists from the developing world and
promote South-South cooperation. The program is open to applicants from
developing countries (except India) younger than age 45, and who possess doctorate
or masters degrees in science or equivalent degrees in engineering/medicine.
Past participants have included several in agriculture, biological sciences,
and geo-sciences. The fellowship is for three months and includes
transportation, maintenance allowance, accommodation, and contingencies. The
application deadlines are 30 April and 31 October of each year.
International Center for Genetic Engineering and
Biotechnology

The ICGEB Research Grants support projects in agricultural
biotechnology, basic life sciences, bioenergy, and many other fields. The
grants are intended to facilitate the creation of research facilities in
promising institutes; to promote training of young scientists; and to develop
new research programs in participating countries. The program is open to
applicants who have positions at universities and research institutes in
ICGEB's member states. Grants are a maximum of €25 thousand per year for
projects of up to 36 months. The deadline for submitting applications is 30

Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO)
supports capacity building in oceanography for individuals and institutions in
developing countries. POGO's Visiting Fellowships Program is open to
scientists, technicians, graduate students (PhD), and post-doctoral fellows
involved in oceanographic work. Priority is given to applicants in their early
stages of career development. The fellowship offers the opportunity to visit
other oceanographic centers for a short period of training on any aspect of
oceanographic observations, analyses, and interpretation. The application

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable
Development honors outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions,
organizations or other entities engaged in activities on Education for
Sustainable Development. Nominated projects and programs should address the
three integrated dimensions of sustainability -- society, economy, and
environment -- in innovative ways. The Prize consists of three annual awards of
US$50 thousand each. Nominations can be submitted by governments of UNESCO
member states, and by NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO. The deadline

The Student Solidarity Awards aim to encourage associations
of students in institutions of higher education to take initiatives in
community-oriented projects. The program is open in countries around the world
where the Veolia group is present. The awards are for innovative approaches in

development. Three contest winners will divide €10 thousand in grants. The

Women's World Summit Foundation

The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) invites
nominations for its annual Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life. The
prize honors women's groups for exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment
to improve the quality of life in rural communities. Each year, between 5-10
winners receive a cash prize of US$1,000. Nominations include biographical data
about the nominee; at least two endorsement letters; and labeled photos.

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSMFP) provides
support to PhD candidates from developing countries to conduct PhD research on
a development topic in a World Bank member country other than the Fellow's home
country. The funding is for a period of 6-10 months in any field of applied
research that addresses poverty alleviation. The total budget request cannot
exceed US$25 thousand. Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD program and be
under 35 years old. The application deadline is 30 April 2021.
Environmental Research & Education Foundation

The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF)
seeks applications for the Sustainable Solid Waste Management Research Program
in North America. Pre-proposals must relate to sustainable solid waste
management practices in the topic areas of waste conversion to energy,
biological conversion technologies, recycling, among others. Previously awarded
grants have ranged from $15 thousand to over $500 thousand with an average
grant size of about $160 thousand for 2 years. There are no restrictions in
regards to geographic location. EREF has two deadlines per year with
pre-proposals being accepted 15 days prior to the deadline date. The next
application deadlines are 01 December 2020 and 01 May 2021.
Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in
Higher Education

Nuffic, a Dutch non-profit organization for
internationalization in education, offers scholarships for studies in the
Netherlands. Students from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico,
Russia, South Africa, and Vietnam are invited to apply for studies at selected
universities listed in the call. Subject areas include earth sciences, ecology,
and many others. The Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will get discounts on
study fees ranging from 30% to 100%, or an offer for living expenses per month
(without a discount on study fees). Potentially interested individuals should
review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher
education institutions, and information about how to apply. The deadlines and
criteria vary depending on the selected university and country of origin of the

postdoctoral scholarships through the Excellence Scholarship Program. Focus
areas include life sciences, agriculture-industry, environmental technologies,
and others. Applications are open to candidates of any nationality that hold a

scholarships (min. 1 year) is 01 March 2021, and for short term scholarships
(1-3 months) is 01 February 2021 and 01 May 2021.

The World Food Prize Foundation invites nominations for the
annual World Food Prize. The World Food Prize (US$250 thousand) recognizes an
individual or individuals who have made outstanding achievements to enhance the
world’s food production and its distribution to those most in need. Fields of

technology; rural development; water and the environment; natural resource
conservation; poverty elimination; and many others. The deadline for

Canadian International Development Research Center

The Canadian International Development Research Center
(IDRC) and the Swedish International Development Agency seek organizations from
low and lower-middle income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to host an African-based
research network on responsible artificial intelligence innovations in
agriculture and food systems. Applicants must have a proven track record in
the design, development, and scaling of artificial intelligence innovations in
agriculture and food systems. IDRC will provide funding of up to C$1.2 million
to design and implement an innovation research network of researchers and
innovators applying responsible AI techniques. The application deadline is 03

TechWomen offers professional mentorship and exchange to
emerging women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
from the developing world. The program is open to qualified women with a
minimum of 2 years full-time professional experience in the STEM fields.
Applicants must be citizens of Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan,
Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Palestinian
Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia,
Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan or Zimbabwe. TechWomen covers the costs of travel and
accommodation for the program events in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. The

The Zayed Sustainability Prize recognizes achievements that
are driving impact, innovation and inspiration in environmental stewardship and
global sustainability. The Prize is awarded across several categories: (i)

high schools in six world regions). The winners in each category receive US$600

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ocean
Innovation Challenge (OIC) seek innovative solutions that address sustainable
fisheries and aquaculture focusing on SDG. Governmental agencies, NGOs, private

are eligible to apply. Innovators can request from US$50 thousand to US$250
thousand for up to two years. Preliminary proposals must be submitted before 09

U.S. Agency for International Development

The program SERVIR helps developing countries to integrate
Earth observation information and geospatial technologies into development
decision-making. The U.S. government will provide information provided by Earth
observing satellites and geospatial technologies for managing climate risks and
land use. Information should be used to act locally on climate-sensitive issues
such as disasters, agriculture, water, ecosystems and land use, and inform
government and civil society decision making. USAID anticipates making one
award of between US$12 million to US$15 million for implementation over five
years. Eligibility for funding is restricted to organizations based in West
Africa, primarily in Burkina Faso, Niger, Ghana, Senegal, Mali, and Nigeria.

The Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize
recognizes woman scientists from least-developed countries with scientific
achievements in clean and renewable energy; sustainable agriculture and
agro-biodiversity; plastic pollution and microplastics, water purification and
sanitation, climate change, waste management, biodiversity conservation, and
other themes related to sustainability. The winner will receive a cash award of
US$4 thousand. Candidates should be working and living in an LDC country for at
least two years prior to nomination. The deadline for nominations is 12 May
2021.

The European Commission (EC) seeks to promote
entrepreneurship and enhance the livelihood of Namibia's livestock farming
communities in a sustainable way. The EC requests proposals that improve the
livestock production system and its resilience to climate change; and/or
increase livestock farmers’ access to domestic, regional and international
markets. Funding of up to €1.1 million
is available. Eligibility extends to Non-State actors (NSAs). The deadline for

Tiny Beam Fund offers the Burning Questions Fellowship to
researchers who wish to “address negative impacts of global industrial food
animal production” (especially in low- and middle-income countries). The fund
is directed to PhD researchers from any residence, citizenship, or location.
There will be three awards available, one in each category. Category 3: US$15
thousand for a single individual enrolled for a PhD; Category 2: US$20 thousand
for a single individual with a PhD degree; and Category 1: US$25 thousand for a
team of two to four researchers that has at least one person with a
PhD/doctoral degree. Application closes 14 May 2021.

The South African Fulbright Foreign Student Program provides
grants for university graduates to pursue postgraduate studies at a United
States university. The Fulbright program covers graduate degrees up to two
years. The scholarship is not restricted to programs or specific subject areas.

2021.

The Einstein Forum and the Daimler and Benz Foundation offer
a fellowship for early-career researchers who wish to pursue a project in a
different field from that of their previous research. Please note that the
proposed project must be significantly different in content, field and form,
from the applicant’s previous work. The fellowship includes living
accommodations for up to 6 months in Caputh (Germany). The fellow will receive
a stipend of €10 thousand and reimbursement of travel expenses. Candidates must
be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social
sciences, or in the natural sciences. Applicants have to submit their
application by 15 May 2021.
U.S. African Development Foundation

The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) invites
proposals for grant financing and local support from African agricultural
cooperatives, producer groups, processors, and enterprises for grant financing.
Grants will support solutions that extend the organizations’ own capabilities
to increase your revenues, create jobs, improve farmer incomes, and achieve
sustainable market-based growth. The maximum funding award is US$250 thousand
per project. The application deadline is 17 May 2021.
University of Science and Technology of Hanoi

The University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (also
known as Vietnam France University) offers Bachelor, Master, and PhD programs
in subject areas that include energy; water, environment, oceanography; and
several others. Eligibility to apply extends to Vietnamese and international
students graduated from relevant training fields in or before 2021, with good
academic results and ability in English. For highly qualified applicants,
merit-based scholarships and/or need-based fellowships cover up to 100% of
tuition fees and living expenses. The next application deadlines are 16 March
and 18 May 2021.

The Ekhaga Foundation makes research grants in ecological
agriculture and biological medicine. There is no maximum amount. Please note
that the total amount awarded is usually in the range SEK 10-15 million.

The School Enterprise Challenge is an international business
program for schools run by the educational charity Teach A Man To Fish. It
guides and supports teachers and students to plan and set up real, sustainable
school businesses and generate real profits to help support their school or a social
cause of their choice. Thematic areas include agriculture, drinking water and
sanitation, and the environment, among others. Prizes are between US$250 and
US$5 thousand, including in-kind donations like laptops and cameras. Please
note that only pre-primary schools, primary schools, secondary schools and
technical/vocational colleges are eligible (universities are not eligible to
apply). The deadlines for project submission are 21 May, 21 August, and 21
November 2021.

The Africa Food Prize honors outstanding contributions to
agriculture and food production in the challenge to combat hunger and reduce
poverty in Africa. The Prize can be awarded for a specific contribution or
achievement, or for a series of efforts and results within the last few years.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund

and those whose work is not routinely disseminated internationally. The
Pulitzer Center will provide a travel grant of US$5 thousand for a reporting

to all journalists, writers, photographers, radio producers, filmmakers, staff
journalists as well as freelancers and media professionals from any developing

extends to Commonwealth citizens of developing Commonwealth countries,

programs. Subject areas for study correspond to priorities of Australia's aid

Celebrate Islands invites video submissions for a contest
“My project in 120 seconds” giving winners the opportunity to implement a small
project on their island. Projects need to be achievable within one month and
may focus on biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, waste and
plastic, sustainable economic activities (such as fisheries, agriculture,
etc.), water efficiency or energy supply. Celebrate Islands intends to award 3
projects with €3 thousand each. Island projects can be submitted from all
around the world but need to focus on an island of less than 150km2. Video
applications have to be submitted by 30 April 2021.

Engineering for Development (E4D) awards two doctoral scholarships
per year and promotes projects that are directly relevant for improving the
livelihoods of underprivileged people in low-income countries. Funding of
CHF175 thousand is available to cover salary costs of selected doctoral

French Ministry of Research and Education

LabexMER is a program of France's Ministry of Research and
Education to address key questions about the global ocean, the deep ocean, and
the coastal ocean. LabexMER offers four two-year postdoctoral fellowships for
international young scientists to propose research projects in marine sciences
to be carried out in one or several LabexMER laboratories in western France.
Fellows will receive an annual salary of €37 thousand and support to cover
travel expenses, equipment and supplies (€5 thousand per year). The deadline

Indian National Academy of Sciences

India's National Science Academy administers the JRD-Tata
Fellowships to support visiting scientists from the developing world and
promote South-South cooperation. The program is open to applicants from
developing countries (except India) younger than age 45, and who possess doctorate
or masters degrees in science or equivalent degrees in engineering/medicine.
Past participants have included several in agriculture, biological sciences,
and geo-sciences. The fellowship is for three months and includes
transportation, maintenance allowance, accommodation, and contingencies. The
application deadlines are 30 April and 31 October of each year.

The Lawrence Foundation makes grants to U.S. nonprofit
organizations for projects in environment, human services, and other themes.
There is no restriction on the geographical area where grant activities can be

Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans

supports capacity building in oceanography for individuals and institutions in
developing countries. POGO's Visiting Fellowships Program is open to

stages of career development. The fellowship offers the opportunity to visit
other oceanographic centers for a short period of training on any aspect of

The UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable
Development honors outstanding efforts of individuals, institutions,

environment -- in innovative ways. The Prize consists of three annual awards of
US$50 thousand each. Nominations can be submitted by governments of UNESCO

Women's World Summit Foundation

The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) invites
nominations for its annual Prize for Women’s Creativity in Rural Life. The
prize honors women's groups for exceptional creativity, courage, and commitment

exceed US$25 thousand. Candidates must be enrolled in a PhD program and be

Environmental Research & Education Foundation

seeks applications for the Sustainable Solid Waste Management Research Program
in North America. Pre-proposals must relate to sustainable solid waste
management practices in the topic areas of waste conversion to energy,
biological conversion technologies, recycling, among others. Previously awarded
grants have ranged from $15 thousand to over $500 thousand with an average
grant size of about $160 thousand for 2 years. There are no restrictions in
regards to geographic location. EREF has two deadlines per year with

Higher Education

internationalization in education, offers scholarships for studies in the
Netherlands. Students from Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico,
Russia, South Africa, and Vietnam are invited to apply for studies at selected
universities listed in the call. Subject areas include earth sciences, ecology,
and many others. The Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will get discounts on
study fees ranging from 30% to 100%, or an offer for living expenses per month
(without a discount on study fees). Potentially interested individuals should

Prize annually awards $5 million in prize funding and services to a group of 10
leaders who are tackling the most urgent issues of our time around the world.

quality education and healthcare. The Elevate Prize is open only to applicants

The program SERVIR helps developing countries to integrate
Earth observation information and geospatial technologies into development
decision-making. The U.S. government will provide information provided by Earth
observing satellites and geospatial technologies for managing climate risks and
land use. Information should be used to act locally on climate-sensitive issues
such as disasters, agriculture, water, ecosystems and land use, and inform
government and civil society decision making. USAID anticipates making one
award of between US$12 million to US$15 million for implementation over five
years. Eligibility for funding is restricted to organizations based in West
Africa, primarily in Burkina Faso, Niger, Ghana, Senegal, Mali, and Nigeria.

The Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize
recognizes woman scientists from least-developed countries with scientific
achievements in clean and renewable energy; sustainable agriculture and

other themes related to sustainability. The winner will receive a cash award of
US$4 thousand. Candidates should be working and living in an LDC country for at

grants for university graduates to pursue postgraduate studies at a United
States university. The Fulbright program covers graduate degrees up to two

the graduate program; basic medical insurance; and a monthly subsistence

iF International Forum Design GmbH

The iF Social Impact Prize aims to publish and support
design projects that contribute to solving urgent challenges and help to
improve living conditions in the developing world. Solutions should already be
established and help to solve well known issues in any category of the UN
Sustainable Development Goals. The best projects will share a cash prize of €50

Asian Institute of Technology and UNESCO-IHE

The Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand and the
UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands offer Joint Degree
Master’s programs in "Environmental Technology for Sustainable
Development", "Urban Water Engineering and Management ", and

Productivity". Applicants may seek financial support and scholarships from

Filmmaking Grants to support independent filmmakers around the world via grants

The Alstom Foundation invites projects proposals from NGOs
in eligible countries in the Asia-Pacific region, South Asia, Europe, Eurasia,
Latin America, the Middle East and Africa (a full list of eligible countries is

activities, including support for water supply and sanitation; renewable
energy; reforestation; waste management; ecotourism; and environmental

applications. The awards recognize excellence in policy-oriented research,
supports research capacity development of researchers in low and middle-income

marginalized groups in the developing world. In 2021, GDN hosts the Outstanding
Research on Development award, based on the theme ‘International trade and the
promotion of biodiversity’. The competition will feature two categories: a
competitive research grant program (worth US$30 thousand) that funds
outstanding research proposals that address development issues in low and
middle-income countries and a competitive grant program (worth US$45 thousand and US$135 thousand)
that supports non-profit Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil
Society Organizations (CSOs) in low or lower-middle-income countries. The

German Federal Environmental Foundation

The German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) offers 60
research fellowships per year to young scientists in Germany and
internationally across all disciplines of environmental protection. The funding
period is 36 months with a monthly stipend of €1,500. DBU welcomes subjects of
international importance, although the work has to be done mainly in Germany,
and with a clear reference to the German environmental situation. DBU expects

in 2021, inviting anyone in the world to propose solutions to them. The 2021
challenges include one on resilient ecosystems. MIT Resilient Ecosystems
Challenge seeks technology-based solutions that help communities restore,

thousand grant. Additional prizes (from US$75 thousand to US$150 thousand) for

The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) seeks 35 fellows to
carry out their research at one of the PAS institutes. The fellowship program

enables early-career researchers to join a project team from another country
for research activities that further our understanding of Antarctica. The

Conservation, Food and Health Foundation

low- and lower-middle-income countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the

The New Earth Foundation (NEF) seeks Letter of Inquiries
(LOIs) to fund innovative environmental initiatives that are working to help
eliminate pollution and to save the planet’s ecosystems, and community projects
that create models of social sustainability. Past projects include gardening
and building houses in earthquake impacted regions, using solar equipment to
provide clean water to poor communities, planting trees for clean air, and many
others. NEF only funds 501(c)(3) organizations. Applicants from outside the US
may apply through a fiscal sponsor. Letters of Inquiry can be sent at any time
during the year. These letters are reviewed twice a year and applicants that
fit the requirements will receive the invitation to submit a full grant
application. The deadlines for review are 01 February and 01 July each year.

GlobalGiving is an online platform to raise funds for
grassroots projects worldwide across many sectors and themes – including in
agriculture, energy, environment, and natural resources. GlobalGiving announces
a new Accelerator program that will offer virtual training in online
fundraising and participation in a two-week crowdfunding campaign. The program
is open to nonprofit organizations anywhere in the world. Organizations that
successfully complete the GlobalGiving Accelerator by raising at least US$5
thousand total from a minimum 40 different donors will earn permanent
membership with GlobalGiving, in addition to $30 thousand in matching funding
and bonus prizes. The application deadline is 16 July 2021.

The Embassy of Japan in Uganda provides financial assistance
to non-profit, development-oriented organizations in support of community
development projects in Uganda. Any projects geared towards grassroots
assistance are eligible for financing, including water and sanitation, disaster

under 10 million yen (approx. US$100 thousand). Potential recipients are
international or local NGOs, community based organizations, educational
institutions and local governments. The Embassy receives concept papers anytime
throughout the year, but the selection process is conducted twice a year with

India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
offers postdoc fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other
than India) to pursue postdoctoral research at CSIR’s laboratories and
institutes. The duration of the fellowships is six to twelve months. Subject
areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural
sciences. CSIR will provide a monthly stipend to cover living costs, food, and

ClimateScience is a global charity creating and providing
educational resources on solutions to climate change to people worldwide.
ClimateScience invites youth from 14-17 years and 18-25 years to participate in
the Climate Science Olympiad 2021. Participants can compete in teams of two or

team (or individual) chooses one of three problem statements (topics:

students who self fund their postgraduate studies. The university offers a
scholarship of £4 thousand to African students that will be paid as a discount
on the tuition fee. Available courses include biological sciences, marine

Entrepreneurship accelerator program designed to support social entrepreneurs
