6 June 2023. How is the African insurance industry responding to climate change?


The insurance industry is exposed to the risks of climate change and that risk is increasing. Insurers should be aware of these risks and the potential impact on their business. A 2019 global survey [With Climate Impacts Growing, Insurance Companies Face Big Challenges] found that 72 percent of insurance companies believe climate change will affect their business, but 80 percent of them have not taken significant steps to lessen climate risks.

This webinar discussed food loss and waste basics while touching upon different drivers and causes that lead to food loss and waste along the value chain.

6 June 2023. One Planet Fellowship Programme – Boosting Africa-Europe scientific collaboration on climate change and agriculture in Africa

Launched in December 2017 during the Paris One Planet Summit, and co-funded by the European Union, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, BNP Paribas Foundation and IDRC, the One Planet Fellowship Programme (OPFP) aims to establish, enable and strengthen a network of African and European researchers working on the broad challenges of African agriculture and climate change.
