29/03 Seeds of opportunity: Scaling agriculture innovations through South-South collaboration


How can we foster robust South-South collaboration to scale agricultural innovations that benefit smallholder farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa? This session brought together perspectives from key stakeholders - development partners, policymakers, farmer representatives, innovative agriculture enterprises and investors - to strategize pathways for cross-border partnerships and targeted action. India offers nuanced learnings from its bustling innovative agriculture ecosystem of over 1,500 innovative enterprises that have served 15 million farmers; this discussion will explore how to scale successful and mature innovative Indian enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa, while accounting for the unique challenges and opportunities in target markets. This will also pave the way for similar cross-border collaboration in agriculture across the Global South for the future.

8 March 2024. Michigan State University (MSU) Extension has partnered with India’s National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) to launch the Centre for Agricultural Development in the African and Asian Regions

The Centre will serve as a platform for capacity-building in developing countries, including promoting good agricultural practices to empower farmers and encourage agricultural entrepreneurship and innovations.

Karim Maredia,
 director of international programs for the MSU College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said that Centre will be a game-changer for farmers and agribusinesses in these regions.

MSU Extension is the outreach arm of Michigan State University. With more than 600 professionals throughout the state, the organization helps address critical issues, needs and opportunities by delivering the vast knowledge resources of MSU directly to individuals, communities and businesses.
