22 June 2021. FAO’s Animal Production and Health Division, in close collaboration with the Food and Nutrition Division, are in the process of developing a comprehensive, science and evidence-based assessment on the contribution of the livestock sector to food security, nutrition, sustainable food systems and healthy diets.
To provide a holistic view, the assessment will be developed in in a collaborative and multidisciplinary manner, including human nutrition, public health, livestock production and health, agricultural economy, social and political sciences among others. It will respond to the need to foster sustainable transformation of the sector and fight all forms of hunger and malnutrition.
The webinar brought together a wide range of stakeholders representing academia, other relevant UN organizations, private sector associations and multi-stakeholders partnerships as well as FAO colleagues from a range of technical units and offices, operating at global, regional and country level.
FAO presented the mandate, scope and process with a view to explore potential collaboration and engagement.
